Welcome!
I am a medical sociologist, family demographer, and social gerontologist studying health inequalities and family dynamics over the life course. Currently I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Faculty Affiliate in the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
One line of my research consists of social determinants of well-being, mostly among older adults. The other strand of my research investigates the changing patterns of romantic relationships in diverse social contexts undergoing dramatic transitions.
My work is published/forthcoming in Demography, Social Forces, Journals of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Demographic Research, and other peer-reviewed outlets (Google Scholar). I serve on the editorial board of the Population Research and Policy Review.
